Not a 'Learn to draw' tutorial but an overview on materials (60p), strokes etc. (30p), composition (30p), light & atmosphere (50p), color drawing (20p) and examples (60p).
Nice design, perfect size (nearly A4 or American letter size) for showing detailed color illustrations.
Did not rate it 5 stars because the content of the book lacks a specific audience. Some passages are directives to beginners and other passages are written for more advanced 'artists'.

I used it as a read-trough overview, having not picked up a single pencil, and will now start a hands-on tutorial. It might still serve as a reference book on the basics and as inspiration (referring to the beautiful illustrations).

I read this book for my college drawing course, it is really well put together and helped me learn my art concept. It you are looking for a book to help sharpen your drawing skills I highly recommend this book.

A very comprehensive, maybe too comprehensive, manual of drawing techniques. The author covers drawing in a multitude of media, from pencil to charcoal to sanguine to pastel, even "drawing" with watercolor and ink. While the book is good as an overview of many techniques, the reader is left with too much general information about too many things, and not enough information to go in-depth into any specific medium. Which is surely the point, but didn't really meet my needs. If you'd like an overvi A very comprehensive, maybe too comprehensive, manual of drawing techniques. A very good intro to the tools and materials of drawing. A major portion of the book is devoted to materials. This was a disappointment, as I really wanted more structured lessons using the few materials I have on hand. I think this is too sweeping of an overview for a beginner to gain practical experience from it.

Too much general information. Great source for obtaining a vocabulary of terms and language of drawing. Actually learning to draw, not so much.
